Space Planning seems to be the fundamental element of the interior design process. The in- depth analyzation of how Space is to be used in Structures and Rooms is commonly known as Space Planning. It is the most important component for the interior designers to be aware of. It is nothing but to ensure efficient use of floor space without wastage. The process results in a drawing which is called as a Space Plan which consists of a floor plan (as shown in the picture above) that explains the needs and requirements of the Space which includes windows, doors, cabinets, storage spaces, wardrobes etc. Space planning also deals with Vastu Shastra, which is believed by over 85% of Indian population. The entire space planning chapter including drawings, manual drafting and on-screen drafting (on software) is a part of the curriculum in the course of interior design at Lakhotia College of Design.
